This would include the state communications contest, out-of-state trips, outstanding achievements at a national contest, etc. It is signed by the Dean/Director and the State 4-H program leader. A specialist or the state program leader could also recognize a youth or volunteer who has achieved an honor in  a local 4-H program such as Outstanding Youth of the Year. This certificate could be used at the State recognition program.

3.) 4-H 345       Friend of 4-H presented to ………………………. In grateful appreciation for outstanding service to the Maryland 4-H Youth Program.

Maryland Friend of 4-H: There are two levels of State Friends of 4-H. A certificate is the 1st level and a plaque the 2nd level. Certificates are most often received and presented by the local 4-H program. Individuals can be cited for leadership, citizenship and service to 4-H or a combination of these efforts. Number of years is not necessarily a strong indicator for selection. These people have given extended service to the 4-H Program at the local, county, state and or national or international level. The individual can either be recognized for leadership and service to project areas, a specific activity or program, or to 4-H resource development. You can apply for this award through the state on an annual basis with the volunteer awards and presented at the donor breakfast at state fair.
